The challenge should you choose to accept it… Do 20 minutes of yoga everyday for 21 days!
Some might be thinking 20 minutes of yoga what is that really going to do? But if you are like me and juggling work, being a mom, being a wife and taking care of a home then you know it’s hard enough just to find 20 minutes!
It is most important to maintain a regular yoga practice rather than focus on the length of time you spend doing yoga. 20 minutes makes it manageable… You can carve out 20 minutes before you shower in the morning, before you eat dinner at night or in my case 20 minutes at the end of the day when the house is finally quiet! Practicing regularly is what will maximize the effects of doing yoga.
20 minutes also makes it easy to find a variety of videos you can follow online – there are flow videos, videos for relaxation, core focus and at all levels! I have been cruising YouTube for a different flow video every night but Yoga Journal is also a good source, as is Yoga Download.
Back to the challenge! I am 7 days in and I will be honest there was a little hiccup on day 4, I didn’t get to practice! I was really disappointed in myself. How could I have dropped the ball so early on? And then I remembered something…There is no judgement in yoga! Ahimsa, a Sanskrit word meaning non-violence, not physical violence, but violence of words or thoughts, is one of core principals in yoga and is the core of anyone’s yoga practice. Ahimsa encourages us to be more aware and more compassionate, both with ourselves and others. Your yoga practice should be non-competitive and accepting. Graciously accepting yourself and your body as it is right now!
So I continue on with my challenge, 7 days down, 14 more to go!
Anyone want to join me to feel happier and healthier everyday?
