A Little Rustic Chic in the City…

With 2 little boys and 2 working parents, life can get busy, even a little chaotic at times!  That is why we all strive to make our homes a little slice of heaven…  comfortable and peaceful!  For my husband and I that means a combination of contemporary and rustic, a mix of lots of wood tones, grey hues and blues.

We recently did some renovations in our home and one project is my absolute favorite – our master bedroom!  I think all of my HGTV watching has rubbed off on him because he came to me and said “what if we do a reclaimed wood wall behind our bed?”… I immediately started researching and found exactly what we needed on my go to for everything reclaimed wood – Etsy!

Enter Fama Creations – they offer reclaimed wood wall accent kits, made to your size specifications!  Each piece arrived labeled and ready to install with some liquid nails and a nail gun.  If you are pretty handy you would handle the installation but we left it to a professional.  Although, I will warn you there is some cutting involved if you have outlets on your wall which can be tricky but aside from that its pretty straight forward!

The whole project took about 4 hours from start to finish, including clean up!

The end result is a gorgeous rustic chic accent wall!  The mix of colors, different thicknesses of the wood… It is perfect!

To keep with our rustic contemporary vibe, we decided on a grey upholstered headboard from West Elm, which in my opinion looks perfect against the accent wall!

The bed linens are a bit of a mix and match but love how it turned out.  The comforter and shams are from Urban Outfitters, as are the printed throw pillows.  Since the pillows are positive/negative prints, we can switch it up based on the day or our mood (small and large).  Also wanted to add a bit of texture with the boucle pillows from West Elm in Ivory and Platinum.  And to finish off the bed a cozy chenile throw blanket we picked up at a local home store.

To complete the look, we switched out our boring ceiling fan for the Hoyne Pendant from Crate and Barrel. It has a grey finish which gives it a earthy finish to compliment the wood wall!
